Food before pharmacy
Health systems are engineered to repair. Almost nothing in daily life is engineered to prevent. That asymmetry is our health thesis in one sentence.
Modern medicine is extraordinary at rescue: it repairs hearts, replaces joints, beats back infection. But by the time it engages, most of the damage that matters was done slowly, over decades, at the kitchen table. The system bills by the repair; nobody bills for the harm that never happened.
Nutrition is the highest-leverage preventive instrument most people actually control. Not genetics, not the healthcare system, not the air — what goes on the plate, every day, three times a day. And yet the guidance most people receive is generic to the point of uselessness: eat better, move more.
Generic advice does not change behavior. A coach who knows you does.
Why coaching, why functional
Yamila Coach is built on functional nutrition — the practice of treating food, habits, and lifestyle as an interconnected system tuned to one individual. The product is not a diet plan; it is an ongoing relationship with a coach who understands your history, your constraints, and your blood work, and helps you make informed decisions inside your real life.
It is a deliberately human-paced business in a portfolio full of software, and that is the point. Some things scale through code; some scale through trust. A family holding can afford to grow both.
The pattern we watch
Preventive health keeps moving from institutions to individuals — wearables, home diagnostics, personalized protocols. Every step of that migration increases the value of someone who can interpret the data and turn it into behavior. That interpreter, we believe, looks much more like a coach than an app.
